What was happening in the world
The same Corinthian church, a few years later, was now being courted by traveling “super-apostles” who measured ministry by eloquence, credentials, and fees — the standards of professional philosophers in that world. Paul, writing from Macedonia in the middle of real hardship, answers with a ministry shaped by the cross instead of the marketplace.
