What was happening in the world
Micah was a country preacher from Moresheth, a village in Judah's lowlands directly in the path of Assyrian invasions — including Sennacherib's campaign of 701 BC, which Assyria's own palace carvings of the siege of nearby Lachish show in brutal detail. He watched wealthy landowners in Jerusalem and Samaria seize family farms from rural people like his own neighbors.
